4 Promo Ideas For Mother's Day

Share

Mother’s day is coming! And it is much earlier this year - Sunday 18th March so time to get cracking if you want to get some juicy voucher sales and make a lot of mothers very happy! In America, Mother’s day is second only to Christmas for voucher sales and although it has never been as big over this side of the pond - there is no reason it should not be as big for your salon or spa.

Google Says... there are more than 250,000 searches related to Mother’s Day. And the search term “mother’s day offers” has been growing in popularity over the past couple of years. This means there is a captive audience out there waiting for you.

So how should you go about promoting your mother’s day gifts?

The most important thing to think about is how to Add Value to your mother’s day gifts or promotions. Discount offers can come across cheap, boring and damage your business so instead think of extra things you can add to the gift that will entice people to splash out to treat their mum.

Remember people will be thinking what they can buy! Here are some of the best ideas from the Phorest blog over the last year.

1. Free Product with Gift VoucherThis is an oldie but a goodie. The product will add something tangible to the present that Mum can experience straight away while giving people an extra reason to buy a voucher from you.

2. Mother Daughter Packages
I love these. For Christmas I made up a hair cut and colour voucher for my mum and we had a girly day in the hair salon in January. As money has been tight people realise and appreciate how enjoyable spending time with their nearest and dearest is. If you can offer some great value mother/daughter packages you’ll get to tap in on this. You could have a look through your menu and see if you can come up with a value added package maybe upgrade a basic into a luxury as long as what you offer is done on the same day whilst your clients are in the room. It may take a little more time with a little extra product but the benefits out way discounts and money off the value jumps out at your client.

If you offer this package in a credit card styled gift card then Mum will keep it in her wallet with her credit cards and be reminded of this treat everytime she goes shopping! Click here to request a Free sample of one of these gift cards.

3. Joint Marketing with Other Local Businesses
Think about joining forces with a nearby restaurant for an extra special Mother’s Day offer. On the same day I went for a hair cut and colour with my mum we also went for lunch, and there’s a definite way salon owners could tap into this with a deal.

Alternatively, you could set up a deal that allows you to gain from a restaurant’s popularity whereby anyone who eats in the restaurant over Mother’s Day weekend can get a Free Product if they book in to your salon

4. Ask Your Staff
You have a great resource in your staff include them. They’ll have great ideas on what might work as an offer. Taking ideas from them will also up staff enthusiasm for it and will probably result in them promoting it even more for you.

How To Get The Message Out in 6 Ways

E-newsletters
Make sure you shine a light on your Mother’s Day offers in your e-newsletters. Remember the subject line is important so create a curious headline so they open the email.

SMS
You might want to follow up with an SMS reminder, especially in the final few days of your offer. People often forget offers and a little reminder never goes astray and with a 99% open rate your on to a winner.

In-Salon Displays
Set up an attractive in-salon display that will keep Mother’s Day to the fore of people’s minds.

Online
Put your offers on your website, Facebook page, blog etc. If you’re a real online whizz or employ someone to manage your online presence work your offers into your pay-per-click campaign.

Go To Your Audience
Where are your voucher buyers? In the gym? In the supermarket? Putting a poster up in the right spot might be the making of your Mother’s Day offer.

What To Do When Recipients Visit
Make sure people who visit your salon on the back of your Mother’s Day offer get a loyalty card (if they don’t already have one). It’ll help encourage them to come back again. You might even think of bumping up the loyalty points attached to the offer so they’ll have a head start and be even more encouraged to return!

Put your best foot forward and make sure your salon is a welcoming spot. What extra little things could you offer mums? Would a glass of champagne go down well? Or would a cup of tea and a biscuit be more appropriate? Overall, do whatever it takes to make the ambiance and experience memorable this will bring them back again.
